Looking to replace my old GIGABYTE GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 DDR3 AMD 790X ATX AMD that died on me...I'm using s phenom II x4 processor with four sticks of ram looking to spend 50-80 but will go as high as 100 if needed

which model of the phenom II X4 do you own ? what are the rest of your specs ? ram case gpu ?

You can use AM3+ motherboard with that CPU. Many models are at end of life now that AM4 is out.

the one calvin7 posted has 2 x usb 3.1 ports and an m.2 slot which the one you showed me .. doesn't. have any of those . its a bit more ahem future proof.. if i can say that about a 8 year old platform !

edit: perhaps modern would be a better way to describe rather than future proof.
