Will this $9000 laptop retain it's value any longer than a "normal laptop?

It's only a little less than $9000

Will it last a little longer? Is it worth $9000?

Solution
No it won't.

Just like a luxury car, it will almost certainly lose its 'value' faster then a less expensive item.
Compare a 6 year old Corolla vs a 6 year old Lexus. Which sells for a higher percentage of the original price?

Also, 'value' with something like this is a useless number.
If you're talking about resale...no one who would buy such a laptop would buy a used one.
If you're talking about how well it will perform in the future...it will be viable no farther into the future than any other laptop with that same CPU.

And 20lbs? That is no longer a laptop, but merely a fashion statement.

As this laptop is targeted towards enthusiast, and as we all know, enthusiast usually want the new best thing such as GPU, CPU'S etc. None of those are upgradable in the laptop, after 9 months it will start to loose value as new CPU's and GPU's come out. So my answer to your question is that it will gradually loose value faster than average.

That probably weighs more than some desktop computers. : P As a frame of reference, most gaming laptops weigh around 5 or 6 pounds. With a 21 inch curved screen and dimensions nearly 2 feet across and over 3 inches thick, that's more a permanent desktop fixture than a portable device. And if your computer is not going to be particularly portable, you might as well get a gaming desktop that performs better for a fraction of the cost.

As for it "retaining its value", I'd say not at all. Within a couple years, there will likely be laptops that outperform this one for under $2000, which will also be far more portable. A laptop with a 21" screen is a pretty niche product, and just about anyone would be better off getting one with a normal sized screen and hooking it up to a larger monitor when needed.
