Hello
I am planning on spending around £500-600 on a pc and i am happy to buy some parts used,
My build will be something like this and ill probably order it tommorow:
RX 480 (i plan on finding a deal around 150 as they show up every now and then)
Ryzen 5 chip (1400-1500x) I am unsure on what i will buy.
Motherboard: MSI B350M
Ram: 8gb (unknown brand (ram prices have shot up is there anywhere i can get a decent deal on them?)
Storage: 1tb western digital blue
Case: UNKNOWN (Any good ideas on cases? Budget ones? I saw on techsource the
AZZA COSMAS might be good if i can get it in the uk)
Power Supply: 430 bronze? Will this be enough power with the 480?
I am essentially trying to follow techsources build with minor changes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfNZZBl3iEM)

I live in the UK and it is hard to get nice deals on used PC parts. I would like to know what is safe to buy used and some sites i can buy them at used as it is difficult in the UK (i only really know CEX) and if possible links to nice deals i can get on things like the graphics card or the cpu, Also I would like to know any parts of the build you would change without editing the price much/at all, i am 14 and have saved up this money for a while and cant really afford to put more into the build.
Thanks :D

The ballistix I listed is the best price you'll find at the minute mate.

The 570 4gb is virtually on a par with the 480 4gb in all honesty.

Changing out to the ryzen 1400 can get a 580 into the mix.

Not sure what you mean by 'budget case' but this one is very well valued: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/jcH48d/cooler-master-masterbox-5-black-atx-mid-tower-case-mcx-b5s1-kwnn-11

430 could be enough, if it was high quality. However most PSUs witha rated wattage of 430watts are mediocre. Since I'm not sure about your specific budget for the PSU, I'll list a few: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/FQ648d,3hkwrH,Y3X2FT/ all of which are far better quality than an EVGA 430b (the g3 vastly superior). 550w will allow for comfortable headroom.

awesome thanks for the reply, If i were to go with the 480 would i have to sacrifice more money on the cpu (i can get a 480 for a very similar price to that of the 570 when a deal appears) (also i will buy what i can buy used because the less i spend on it the more money i have left over for myself :D

The 1500X does come with a better stock cooler than the 1400 though, so if you're not planning on replacing the cooler, it might be worth the added cost. If you intend on overclocking, the 1400 and 1500X are capable of fairly similar performance, but the stock cooler on the 1400 won't allow for much overclocking headroom. Then again, you could probably use the price difference to get a tower cooler that will perform better than either stock cooling option. If you don't intend on overclocking, the 1500X also has higher clocks out of the box, along with some more cache, which will allow it to perform a bit better.

@cryoburner- true & im aware of this , the issue though is theyre essentially the same chip & Im not convinced the 1500x is worth the difference (,essentially like the 860 vs 880x & fx 8320 vs 8370)

For the same difference again you've got the 1600 with 2 extra cores/4extra threads & it just makes the 1500x look comparatively bad value for money.

Hmmm i never realised how close the 480 was to the 570... its only around a 2fps difference, thanks for helping me choose :D

^ the 480 is a better card though .
There are certain instances where the extra shader units make more difference than the raw clock speed difference on the 570.
The issue is though that 480 stock is dwindling fast (these cards are no longer in production )
What's left seems to have gone up in price not down, don't expect any cheap 480 deals now mate - you'd be left waiting.
570 is a good card though at the end of the day.

I think a rx570+ryzen 1400 is probably the best price/performance combo there is.

Ok thanks... i will probably order this pc later today or maybe when amazons cpu's come back in stock (like the 1500x), thanks :D (also assumably because nothing was said about the PSU assumably 450W is enough) Ive never built a computer before and am looking forwards to doing so... my <30fps minimum settings laptop will finally be put away

Hmmm ok if i went with the 1400 and 580 how much would i be able to safely overclock the 1400 with its stock cooler and would 430-50 bronze psu be enough
And madmatt thank you so much for your help, youve done alot :D

A very good 450w psu like the cxm I listed is enough for these easily

Overclocking the 1400 with its stock cooler ?? NOt really sure mate, the cooler is a fair bit smaller than the one with the 1500x.

have a look at this vid

Theres a straight comparison between the 1400 & 1500x on there

You may want to consider the 1500x+ a rx 570 over a ryzen 1400 + 580 - it may generally be a slightly better pairing & costs roughly the same.

The gpu's on amazon are hit & miss on stock & generally overpriced.
You may have to buy the gpu from a different source - ebuyer is currently the cheapest for a 570
