I bought a dell laptop from Let Go and the previous owner did not provide me with a password or windows 7 disk and will not respond to me. My question is, what exact disk do i need to buy so that I can reset my computer? Thanks in advance.

You can buy any harddrive or SSD and plug it into the PC to be able to access all of the files on the other HDD. You can also buy a new windows 7 oem key or disc and reset it that way, but all data will be lost.

when you say 'what exact disk do i need to buy so that I can reset my computer?' Do you mean you want to reformat the hard drive and reinstall an operating system? if so, what OS do you want to run.

If you mean, .... how do I get past a windows password? .... I don't think anyone here will help you with that.

I want to legally and safely wipe all previous owners info and not have to use their password at all. Like a new computer bought from a store. Will i be able to do that with a windows 7 oem disk? Or will i still have to know the old password?

Lindsey .... no worries about the old password with an intstall disk - the first thing it will do is reformat the hard drive so everything will be gone.

I'd think twice about buying Win7 though .... it will not be supported or updated very much longer. Win10 might be a good choice - if it runs in your dell ---- that could be easily be checked by searching using your exact dell model number ... or just post the model number here and someone will be glad to tell you lol

Even from Linus?

probably inspirion 9there's a million model numbers lol) ... thinking about it win7 is probably ok .... you can still upgrade from a registered win7 installation to win10 for free if you wanted to do that at some point - it's just a little messier
