I am setting up a value build for a friend of mine for light gaming and day to day tasks with an Intel G4560, Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2 Mobo, GTX 1050 Ti 4GB and 16 gigs of ram. A vendor in my area is a combo offer of the CPU, Motherboard and RAM for a very attractive price. The only thing is that the RAM being offered is the Crucial 8GB DDR4 PC4-2133 ECC UDIMM (CT8G4WFD8213) server RAM.

Will there be any issues if I go through with the build using 8x2 kit of the above mentioned memory? Will it affect gaming or any other performance of the rig?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Solution
The Crucial memory part number CT8G4WFD8213 is compatible with the system (otherwise the vendor wouldn't/shouldn't be offering it). And although the module has an ECC chip, the ECC function will not be used by the system. The memory will behave just like an standard non-ECC unbuffered memory module with no issues.

The only minor issue being trying to match two individual modules not from a dual channel kit (even though they are the same part number). There will be a compatible combination of individual modules, but it might take several attempts with different modules to find a compatible combination. But that is the vendors problem.
