Gaming performance is gradually getting much worse.

Hello, this is my first post ever on something like this, so please be gentle!
Thank you for reading in advance.

For a while now I've been getting really bad performance while playing games. I built my PC mid to late 2015 with all new components and the major game I've been playing is EA Star Wars Battlefront.

At first I could easily play on ultra detail without any stuttering whatsoever, but for about a year now I've been getting very bad performance. Right now I can only play on the lowest of settings and this isn't even lagg-free. The game has still been a little bit playable for a long time, but currently it feels like the bottom limit is in sight.

Something important to mention is that my PC sometimes crashes. Audio stutters and I get a random colour on the screen with vertical lines on top. Whenever this happes I have to restart the PC to be able to use it again. (No idea what causes this). This has been happening for as long as I own the PC.

My system specs are as followed:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (4.00GHz)
- GPU: ASUS AMD Radeon R9 270x (2GB, 1120MHz)
- RAM: 16GB
- MOBO: ASRock Z87 Pro4
- PSU: Thermaltake Berlin 630W
- FANS: 2 top (inwards), 1 front (inwards), 1 back (outwards), and the fans that came with the cpu and gpu.
- Windows 10 is installed on an SSD
- SWBF is installed on a HDD (used to be on the SSD but I changed it to a HDD half a year ago)

The temps are the following:
Idle:
- CPU 30-35C
- GPU 25-30C
Gaming (low settings):
- CPU 60-67C
- GPU 62-64C

I have already reinstalled the GPU drivers several times without any improvements. The same goes for windows 10 and the game itself. I also tried to clean the pc. I removed the CPU fan, reapplied thermal paste etc.
The PC always runs on high performance.

I'm beginning to think the cause of this may be an overheating CPU, but I don't see how I could get it any cleaner. It could also be a bad GPU in general, but I don't know how to 'prove' any of this.

I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this problem, as I'm out of ideas. If you need more information I'll happily provide it.

Thanks in advance.

do you have another GPU to test in your system to rule out your GPU?
If so thats where i'd start.

Also, try reapplying your thermal paste on your CPU. typically you will get a blue screen if your CPU is temping out, but it is worth a shot, especially if it has yet to be done in a while.

also, if your cpu is overclocked, this may be due to an unstable OC/not enough voltage, etc.

Cheers!

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I do not have another GPU to test, and I haven't overclocked any of the components. The crashes tend to happen when im not playing any games. It usually happens when I'm on chrome or something. I don't know what this means exactly, but I think it shows that the crashes (probably) aren't caused by overheating.

I reapplied thermal paste 2 days ago, as I wasn't certain if I had done it correctly when I did it a month ago. But I don't notice any difference in performance or temperatures.
