Hey everyone,
I just bought a new AMD-GPU and installed it into my computer. After finding and installing the latest driver(version 17.4.4) I tried to play a few games. Every single game crashed and the error messages were very similiar("renderer crashed","unable to initialize directx device",...).

What I tried to fix this problem:
- Used Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU.exe) to remove older driver-versions
- Installed previous drivers for the GPU (version 17.3.1; 17.4.1; 17.4.2; 17.4.3)
- Reinstalled Directx 9, 10 and 11
- Reinstalled the games
- Installed some relevant Windows-Updates

System:
GPU: AMD RX 480 (my previous GPU was AMD Radeon HD 7870 OC)
CPU: AMD FX 8350
RAM: Kingston 16gb (~1800Mhz)
MB: Asus M5A97
PSU: bequiet 500W
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit

Thank you for your help.

My PSU is 2 years old.
I just noticed one game that is working. "Stranded Deep" works perfectly.

It's possible that your PSU is putting out less juice than it did when it was new, so if the new card states that it needs a 500W PSU, it might not be cutting it for powering the card as it spins up in a game environment.

My CPU draws 125W and the GPU draws 150W so I think it should be good.

125+150=275, but that's just on the 12V output. Your power supply also includes 3.3V and 5V outputs, which get part of that 500W. Depending on how much power is diverted to those lesser outputs, you might actually have quite a bit less than 500W available for the CPU and videocard.

I notice that you only mention games. I hate testing computers with games, too much can go wrong. I wonder if you could run Furmark or 3dmark and see how your computer performs? This is after making sure Windows has all the latest updates and you have installed the latest drivers off the AMD website.

I installed Furmark and gave it a try:

I picked 1080p at fullscreen but I got an error message: "Could not switch to Fullscreen Mode" so I did the benchmark test in window-mode. What I noticed is that some games also throw an error message like that.
