Is it worth to delid my i7 7700k?

I am wondering how much I can gain if I delid my CPU?

Currently I am using
Mobo: GA-Z170-HD3 DDR3
Mem: Kingston DDR3 1600 8GBx4

Case temp: 40deg Celcius
CPU idle: 40-45deg celcius
CPU loaded: 70-80deg celcius

Max overclock achieved: 4.8Ghz with 1.3Vcore (Aida64 test CPU temp 75-85deg celcius)

If I pump 4.9Ghz, with 1.38Vcore, I can see Aida64 test encountered CPU Throttling problem and temp up to 95%.

Never mention about Prime95, because it simply hit 100% deg celcius.

I just wondering if I delid my processor, using CLU... Will that make my CPU overclock up to 5.2Ghz?

Share your experience about Max overclock you can go after delidded?

I wouldn't personally recommend delidding. Some people have had success, others have killed their cpu or only achieved very slight improvements. Is it worth risking $350 or so to replace the cpu if it goes south? If it's taking almost .1v to reach the next multiplier I don't think you'll have a lot of success reaching 5.2ghz. You're already at a disadvantage if your idle temps are 40-45c, I take it your ambient room temps are pretty warm? (around 30c+ ?).

What cpu cooler are you using?

If you're just trying to push things to the max, nothing wrong with it. Practically speaking though you're not going to get a whole lot more performance out of it or real noticeable difference in most things. Stock speeds are rated 'up to' 4.5ghz which means when all 4 cores are under load you're looking more at 4.3ghz or so. With your current oc you're already 500mhz faster than stock at 4.8ghz. Roughly a 12% speed increase. Another 100-200mhz isn't going to amount to much in reality.

I know that's still shy of your goal but your vcore is nearing 1.4v as it is. Generally for 24/7 use it's not recommended to run vcore a whole lot higher. Cooling isn't the only obstacle, vcore matters also. Keeping a cpu cool is important but even if it were cool, too much vcore can reduce its' lifespan or harm it. In short I think it's a lot of work and potential risk to delid a perfectly good chip with a decent oc for so little gain but that's just my opinion. Each cpu is different when it comes to overclocking, same goes for delidding. Like asking others what they're able to oc to, if someone says they've gotten their cpu to 5.2ghz doesn't mean yours will. If they delid and drop 10c doesn't mean you will.

If the CPU does not go over 80C during real world use then don't worry, first i would make sure you have quality thermal paste on between cpu and cooler, or upgrading the cpu cooler if you are using an air cooler or a small AIO cooler, what is your CPU cooler?

My 7700K has been Delidded and I love it. Runs much cooler even at 5 GHz. I have many pictures and have even created a tutorial on how one delids a processor and what is needed. I would love to answer any questions you have. I can reach 5.1 GHz at 1.40V and 5.2 Ghz at 1.44V not 100% Stable.

Another concern is the life span of clu. How long it can stand before need to re apply.

then maybe yes if it is running that hot, delidding should bring it down around 10C, if the cpu is not kabylake or skylake de liddding will be much easier, maybe get a delidding tool from ebay if you can afford one for +/- $15.
