Hello everybody !

I recently started video editing but my processor is not powerful enough.
I want to update my hardware a little. My current config is :

- motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8H77-M PRO Rev X.0x
- processor : Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.30 GHz
- RAM: 3*DDR3 - 4 Go - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 (a 4th one is on the way)
- graphicboard: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti

My plan was to change the processor as it is the bottleneck when I export video after editing.
I search for compatibility here => http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/P8H77-M_PRO.html
and I though the i72600K would be great.

I checked the performances here => http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-3220-vs-Intel-Core-i7-2600K/m272vs621

What is worrying me is that it says that the i7 2600K is compatible with DDR3 1066/1333. However mine is DDR3 1600 (running at 667MHz after checking). Would it work ? Do I have a better option ?

Can you guys advise your thought about what should I do ?

Thanks in advance :)

The RAM will work. But not at full speed. It would be limited to 1333mhz. It won't damage anything, however. So it's safe.

The better option is, you should consider the i7 3770 instead of the 2600k. The 3770 supports ddr3 1600mhz.
