New CPU suggestions to pair w/ GTX 1060?

On a budget, but not too strict.

I was looking to get the AMD 8350, but hoping there can be other suggestions. I don't OC or do anything crazy with my PC. Just gaming and sometimes stream.

Current rig:
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+
AMD 6300
Radeon R7 240 (haven't put in 1060 yet)
Corsair RM 650w
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB

I'm planning to upgrade to intel sometime in the future, but for now, something to work well with my GPU will suffice!

There's not a lot AM3+ has to offer. The extra cores of the FX-83xx will go unused in most games, and clockspeeds aren't really any different than what you already have. If you were to move to AMD's AM4 socket or Intel's 1151, each individual core would be close to twice as fast. I'd suggest holding onto what you have and saving up for a platform replacement - there hasn't been a new CPU design for your socket since 2012.

Makes sense! Thanks for your input -- definitely nice to know. I think I'll try to stay with what I've got and save up for a whole new replacement XD
