So I've had my GTX 750 TI since december, it's this particular model:

http://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N75TOC2-2GI#kf

All fine and good untill recently the second fan started rattling. There are no cables in the way and I'm sure it's this fan since I manualy stoped it by sligly touching it's midle and the rattle stoped. Also if I lay the PC on it's side, wierdly enough the noise completely goes away. What could be causing this?

It's quite annoying since I use this PC for work and the card idles 99% of the time. What I also wanted to ask, would it be okay if unplugged or manualy blocke the fan making it not spin? The card is already loud as it is on idle and the rattle is just insufferable.

The card runs pretty cool at 25 c idle and 48c full load. I tried manualy blocking the fan for like 2 hours and the idle temp didn't get past 28 c. Seems like the 2 fans are a bit overkill for such a low power card.

Thanks!

Depending on which type of fan you got, you can damage it by slowing it down with your finger or blocking it as the fans tries to spin but it can't and can wear out quickly or burn out, I also had this similar issue with my MSI GTX 750Ti, but my problem was that it didn't fit in my very old case, so I used a PCIe extender to extend the card out of my case and the card was lying upside down and crooked and after 2 months, when I got a new case and put the card in, it turned out that second fan bended itself from lying and spinning at weird angle and the fan used to grind and rattle on the inside of the shroud so I decided to turn the fans on 100% and let it run that way for about a month or two when I was using it until the fan grinded itself out and the grinding and rattling stopped and my card is dead quiet, Im not sure if you want to go thru that route and if it's going to work for you.

If you really don't care about the fans, you can just permanently block it since you said the temps are fine and let it die or you could get a new cooler for it, it's really hard to find people selling only fans and shrouds for OEM cards, so it may be a challenge or go with a aftermarket cooler but you will also need to change the heatsink which will void your warranty, I'm not sure about Gigabyte but on MSI, removing or changing the fans and shroud does not void the warranty, only if you take off the heatsink.

Thanks for the feedback, but there's no way I'm letting the card stay at 100% fanspeed for 2 mins, let alone a few months. It's way too loud and I can't work like this.

I really don't want an aftermarket cooler since I don't do much gaming anyway and temps are fine.

Is there any way I could unplug this perficular fan and not have it run?

Really don't want to do a RMA right now. It will take too long and I need the GPU to do my work. I ain't got a spare GPU or a dedicated one to use while this one ships.

You can unplug it, there should be a small 2 or 3 pin connector on the board that connects the fans but if you do, these following may happen:
1. Temps will be fine and you will be able to use the card
2. GPU may detect the unplugged fans or fan failure and limit your clocks (you will not be able to game on it, watching 1080p videos may be choppy)
3. The card will thermal throttle but you will be able to use it normally but the temps may reach 80 or 90C and the card will die quickly

Also keep in mind, if you do unplug them, you will definitely not be able to game on it or watch videos for long periods of times, I would not recommend this and it can void your warranty.

I don't want to unplug both fans. Just the one that rattles.

I see somwhere there is a bridge connection between the 2 fans and I was wondering if that can be unplugged since I've nevery try.
