DX11 Games Locked At 50FPS

Recently I have noticed that most of the titles of DX11 are locked at 50fps with vsync on and with off it hits more then 100fps on GTX 1060, also when I do play DX9 games I am getting solid 60fps vsync on, I just don't understand what exactly is going on here.

I have tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers back and forth but with no luck as the problem still exists.

Any help would be much appreciated

If you have Windows 10 with the Creators Update (one of the most recent updates), it is possible that you are the victim of the "fullscreen optimizations" Microsoft just implemented. Do the games run fine in windowed mode? If so, right click the .exe of the game in question (the actual game .exe, not the launcher or whatever), go to the Compatibility tab, and tick "Disable fullscreen optimizations". I had the same problem with World of Warcraft and this seems to have solved it.

Exactly you totally figured out mate....in wondowed mode my FPS is solid smooth 60 but the moment I switch to full screen on DX11 tittles the FPS goes back to 50 constant, by the way I did what you told me to do but with no luck as disabling fullscreen optimization ain't doing any good on my system.
Every time Microsoft comes up with some major updates they have to just f@@k some things up, is there any other workaround to that dilemma?

Let me know and thanks for the reply

Unfortunately I don't know of any other workaround for now. It turns out this method doesn't work in the case of GTA V for me neither. I'm guessing as last resort we could revert to a previous version of Windows.

Unfortunately I did try to revert back my pc to older version of windows 10 but it seems I had deleted that Old Windows folder few days ago as the memory on my system was low and had to clean up that huge pile of data resting on my drive, which now I do regret horribly.
So either I need a solution or if not then I am doomed with this 50FPS on every DX11 games, and about a clean install then I don't think so as there is too many programs and a clean install would consume my whole weekend or more.

I did search on google and it seems this version is plagued with so many stupid errors and issues that most of the people who were facing FPS issues had to revert back to Anniversary edition which obviously I wouldn't be able to do so, I can only hope they fix this damn issue soon or be stuck with 50fps forever.

I'm having the same problem. Every video game I tried (Titanfall 2, Prey, Styx Shards of Darkness, Splinter Cell Blacklist) is locked to 50 fps in fullscreen with ingame vsync on. Windowed mode locks tha game to 60 fps which is in line with the refresh rate of my monitor. Disabling fullscreen optimizations in the .exe files has no effect.

I can totally understand you mate as I was so excited after buying GTX 1060 knowing every game I throw at it will lock to 60 FPS and I will be sitting pretty without any worries of the world and game till the end of the era lol......but guess I was so god damn wrong because Microsoft came with an idea of updating the windows 10 and just slamming the door right at our faces. There is nothing you can do except roll back windows or wait for who knows how long for windows to settle down.
I am gaming with 50FPS and my blood pressure goes high every time I notice fraps showing 50

No, it set to let the game decide. I don't think think this is the issue however, as it was set like this on different GPUs (currenly a gtx 1070) for years and the 50 fps issue is as new as the Windows Creators Update.

I'm confused because this seems to be a problem caused by the Windows update, yet it I can't find much evidence of people having this issue. Hope Microsoft is aware of this and is doing something in order to fix it.

Yeah... I also read in the latest Nvidia driver release notes that certain GPU models have had issues with different combinations of vsync settings ingame versus the Nvidia Control Panel, so it might be worthwhile to keep an eye out for that too.

But I'm telling you, for me in the case of WoW, I was experiencing the exact same things as you are, then disabled fullscreen optimizations and it was back to normal. It might be the best shot to continue the troubleshooting on this path.

I've tried this in several games but to no effect. At the moment I will be running games in borderless window mode which runs fine, however I think this means I'm stuck with native 1080p. Not really sure how nvidia DSR functions when not in fullscreen.

I can live with such a solution, but I do hope this is only temporary.
