Hi
My pc is acting strange ever since i took off my GPU as it is to be sent for warranty. Then I felt like playing old games like San Andreas, NFS MW, Max Payne 2 till i get the GPU back (these games used to run smoothly before buying GPU). But whenever i open a game, the default resolution falls to the lowest and a strange buzzing comes from my speaker. if i try to increase the resolution, the buzzing grows louder and system gets stuck.
I had uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and installed the display driver for my mobo. But the problem persists.
Can someone help me??
I use a core 2 quad q9400 cpu and 4gb ram.

The cpu has nothing to do with the onboard graphics so you can't say it's the cpu. Plus the games are as old as the system so igpus should play it. I'm assuming that's the original MW and not the new one. Minesweeper is more than a decade older. I wouldn't exaggerate on the capabilities as people take things seriously.

Try ddu and reinstall the drivers. Some driver remnants may still be around. What os?

yes I've tried display driver uninstaller, and installed Intel drivers but no change. Of course, I'm talking about the 2005 MW. I'm using win 7 ultimate. Is the speaker buzzing also related to it?

i used to play those games on my dual core e2180 @2ghz till a few years back. I hope the c2q is way better than that

The buzzing could be outside interference but if it's only when you open a game it sounds more like something on the mobo going bad and getting interference from it. But it could be caused from a software issue. Try updating the audio driver or using a different version. Other than that there's not much to suggest other than reinstalling windows just to completely rule out software. If that's not the issue, it's hardware and there's nothing you can do to fix that.

Then I'd rather try installing windows. I currently have win7 and i could get 8.1. So is it necessary to have a clean installation or just update windows is enough to correct software issues, if any?
