Hello, I've recently upgraded to a Msi gaming geforce gtx 970. I also upgraded my power supply to 500W, which was the requirement for the graphics card (Amazon said this) And across all games ive noticed instability, it constantly stutters and freezes. Am I bottlenecked or is there an other problem? I have an intel i7 4790k and 8 g ram

Like what other specs? Power supply 500w, ram 8g, msi gaming geforce gtx 970, 1tb harddrive, 3 fans, gpu has two fans of its own. Motherboard is a weird lenovo one.

You upgraded two things at once, the PSU and videocard. I'd double check each one. You can start by uninstalling all Nvidia videocard software, removing the 970, and rebooting the computer with what ever you were using before, such as integrated graphics. This is with the new power supply installed. Can you use the computer normally with no issues, not counting games that require a videocard? If so, at least you know the power supply is installed correctly and working. Now download the latest Nvidia drivers if you don't already have them, and you can install the videocard. Boot up and install the drivers. Now run a test.

It will still run most games at a minimum of 60 fps at high to very high when at 1080p (as long as CPU is up to it). I'm still using a 780 which is about 5-10% slower than a 970 and yet to find a game I can't achieve a minimum of 60 fps at high to very high settings.
