Can I use an MSI GTX 770 with a Acer GN276HL, 144hz display, without a Displayport cable?

I bought the monitor, I'm using a DVI-D cable, I'm getting 144hz and 150+ FPS on Overwatch on high preset. Using my GTX 770.

Very satisfied!

Hello,

My PC is rocking an MSI GTX 770, I'd like to purchase the Acer GN276HL.

The sole reason behind the purchase is to run games at 144hz and 1920x1080, but the monitor doesn't support a displayport cable. I have scoured the internet but can't find a definitive answer.

It seems a DVI-D cable will absolutely push 120hz at 1080p. No solid confirmation that it will push 144hz.

I've also read different things about HDMI 1.3/1.4/2.0. It seems that ONLY an HDMI 2.0 connection will result in 144hz at 1080p.

Therein lies the rub Will my MSI GTX 770 support an HDMI 2.0 cable connection to this monitor AND output 144hz at 1920x1080 resolution? Does DVI-D support 144hz at 1080p?

Thank you for your help!

Nicholas

Hi Nicholas, the 770 does support a hdmi 2.0 cable, and DVI-D is only capable of 120hz, but you're not going to feel any difference between 120 and 144hz but you're not gonna be able to run most games with that gpu on 144fps, i would recommend you getting a new gpu before buying the monitor or buying a different monitor
Hope this answers your question
Here's a decent monitor

the 770 is not capable of 144 fps in many games with decent settings

it is more of a ~60 fps 1080p card - barely -
