So I want to build a new gaming computer. Did a lot of research and this is what I came up with:

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) ($179.99)

EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2, 80+ GOLD 550W, Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode, 7 Year Warranty, Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply 220-G2-0550-Y1 ($79.95)

Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 Bit System Builder OEM | PC Disc ($92.99)

Corsair Obsidian Series Black 450D High Airflow Mid-Tower Computer Case ($99.99)

CRYORIG H7 Tower Cooler For AMD/Intel CPU's ($47.99)

MSI Pro Series Intel Z270 DDR4 HDMI USB 3 SLI ATX Motherboard (Z270 SLI PLUS) ($132.49)

Intel Core i5-7600K LGA 1151 Desktop Processors (BX80677I57600K) ($239.99)

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) (135.99)

GEFORCE GTX 970 GAMING 4G (Already got this video card, used it in my old computer was I bought everything stock but just upgraded is with this video card)

So these parts are all coming up to about $1000. Not counting the graphics card.

Is this a good price for this setup? Money is not an issue but would like to save some if it is possible?

I don't do to much gaming but I like to have a fast smooth computer when I do.

I didn't recommend it per-se , in fact on a personal level I'd still go ryzen (which I did;-)

The i7 makes a LOT more sense than any i5 though at the end of the day.

You'd get away with a really good quality 450-500w PSU easily with those components.

I would stick with a 550w+ simply because it gives you enough headroom to upgrade that GPU to anything you want in the future.

Yea its a good setup then .
I'm with Lucky though , the ryzen are better overall chips than the i5's now- especially the 1600 .
For gaming the 970 will be the limiter for fps anyway .
For every other use the ryzen will just crush the i5 completely.

It is worth investigating mate.bear in mind if you look at benches then consider that the 1600 & 1600x are essentially the same chip.
The 1600 has a slightly lower base/turbo clock & comes with a very good cooler so is insanely good value.

If you were still inclined to stick with Intel then in all honesty you should go with a locked i7 with the stock cooler , cheaper board & ram.
The i5's are comparitevely poor value now.

Same price as your CPU, cooler, board, ram combo listed (actually slightly cheaper)

I understand peoples wants to stick with intel if they've always used them before because in all honesty they never really had any competition performance wise.

Not the case anymore though.
