Buying lower speed RAM to save money?

Morning all.

I'm looking at buying some RAM for my PC, 16GB, and want the speed to run at 3200MHz. There's this RAM that I like the look of on NewEgg, link, which is obviously 3200. But there's this RAM which is 200MHz less for £20 less: link. Is it reasonable to buy the cheaper RAM to save money and then boost the speed to 3200? Or is there some sort of cap on the RAM which stops me from boosting it higher than 3000?

Many thanks

yup 1s your over 1600/1866 with intel there's no benefit to gaming.
rysen on the other hand will perform better with faster ram... at the moment though ram is so expensive that the increase in performance isnt worth the outlay...
if you can, try to find cheaper ram at a similar speed but with lower cas latency.

i7-7700k matey, OCed to 4.8GHz, water cooled on an MSI Z270 Gaming M7 Motherboard.

@HEXiT, what type of CAS latency should I look for? I don't suppose you could link me some RAM you have faith in, could you?

Cheers

Gotta love NewEgg, they've saved me around £500 on my build compared to something like Amazon :D
