Hi everyone!

2 days ago i finished my new build.
complete system specs -
i7 7700k
Msi z270 sli plus
Msi gtx 1070 gaming edition
Corsair h80i
Gskill ripjaws V 8gb 2400mhz
Corsair TX850 v2 psu
Samsung 850 evo 250gb
Wd blue 1tb hdd
Nzxt s340 white case

Everything is working fine and i am getting top notch performance in games. But i have a confusion regarding the clock speed of i7 7700k, in msi command centre my cpu clock speed is set to 4.5ghz(it should be set to 4.2ghz which is the official base clock speed) without overclocking and it remains constant whether under load or off load. I have enabled XMP in order to achieve the promised speed(2400mhz) for my ram. So whats the main reason for higher clock speed , is it XMP or something else.

Here's a screenshot of system status while running battlefield 1 -

i checked your motherboard specs and the 2400mhz ram speed don't need oc to get it. XMP is an overcloaking profile that overclocks your CPU and your memory to a speed that can only be achieved by overclocking for example 3200Mhz (oc). CPU speed, 4.5Ghz is the turbo or boost clock which is anabled from an option in bios and it boost's your CPU when you need that extra speed. It's nothing to worry about. Now for your constant CPU speed at 4.5GHz probably is your multiplier that is set to your maximum number and it doesn't let it drop to a lower speed. Try to disable XMP and just set your RAM speed to 2400Mhz manually from the BIOS.

Thanks man for clearing it out.
So is it fine if i leave it at 4.5ghz, i not sure if following temps are safe - idle temps: 36c - 40c
Under load temps: 67c - 71c
I live in india and here avg room temperature is around 38c.

Yes its ok. If your temps go high for some reason, your CPU will go by itself to 4.2Ghz no need to change anything
