Can faulty keyboard prevent computer from starting?

Yesterday i shutdown my pc, without any problems or errors. Today i tried to turn on, but it was dead. I have a asus gtx 760 gpu and there's a led light on it, and normally the light was green and on whole time. Today i saw that it flashes instead the normal state it had as previously mentioned above. So i thought that it was my psu or mobo dead, so i started to pull of my cables to open the case and while pulling one by one when i pulled the ps2 cable for my keyboard i saw that the led light on my graphics card lighted up like it should, so i took my chances and pressed the power button on the case, and the pc started and i was like wtf? :D

I`ve had before a mouse and keyboard that came as a set and that keyboard got faulty overtime as well but the computer could start without problems...

So what can i check other things so i can be 100% sure that it's the keyboard, and rule out the motherboard or the power supply?

It's possible - I would've thought morso via USB opposed to PS/2, but I assume the same thing could happen.

In a USB situation, if the board is faulty, it could be returning the voltage to the board via the USB port, triggering protection of the ports.

The differing LED's on the GPU is interesting though, but it may just relate to how the board &/or PSU is managing the power deliver under the circumstances.

As for testing ,you could start from the basics (CPU/MOBO/1xRAM and relevant PSU connectors), ensure all is working as intended & add back components until the issue repeats itself.
