Slow internet speeds on a wired connection

I have a broadband connection where i am receiving 40mbps. I have multiple PC's and laptops connected all of which are working fine, all apart from one computer which has become really slow.
Usually on this machine i would receive full speeds of 4.8MB/s download speed using a powerline adapter from my router. Recently, i'm not sure what has changed but i'm only getting 200-500KB/s. My upload speed stays the same, which is fine on all machines. Only the download is affected.
I've tried using a WiFi dongle and the speed seems okay, where i get 1MB/s as opposed to 2MB/s i used to get on WiFi. I've tried using my powerline adapter on a laptop, which then receives full speeds - so that can't be the fault.
Yesterday i restarted my computer while still on LAN and the speeds shot right up, however a few hours later it went back down to 200-500KB/s. My first thought was a background process or application which could be bugged. I removed a lot of processes and start up processes and i'm still receiving low speeds. I've tried updating my ethernet drivers, i have no viruses, no anti-viruses. I feel as if i've exhausted all of my options, any ideas?
Thank you.

No new devices were added, and i have just tried everything written in the article, & i still have bad download speeds. I updated my LAN drivers as soon as i noticed the problem which didn't change anything. Any other suggestions?

Did you revert back to the original settings? The "auto tuning" option should be set to "normal" instead of disabled as the guide suggests which turned out to be incorrect information. Upon further research, it appears that other people are having difficulties with the new Windows Creator update https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/04/26/stop_downloading_win10_creators_update/

Do your other PCs have Windows 10 installed?

Yeah, I reverted back & I think I've found my problem.
As soon as I open the lid of a laptop connected via WiFi my Internet speeds just die on my pc. So definitely an application or something, I'll figure it out from here. Thank you for helping out.

That is odd. Maybe it has something to do with the power save settings. But, if you have installed any new software, that could be the culprit.

I've finally diagnosed this problem as having the laptop plugged in, as soon as it is plugged in my Ethernet speed on my computer drops. Like i've said previously, nothing is running or taking any network data. I've checked the power settings and made them as low as possible. I believe the problem is the powerline adapter which works through the main network. If the laptop is plugged on another floor of my house it reduces but not as much, it would reduce to around 3.5MB/s as opposed to 300-400KB/s. When the laptop is not plugged in, i get the full 4.8MB/s.

Any suggestions?

That is interesting. Seems like there is clearly interference going on. Maybe look into getting a surge protector with an EMI filter or a power conditioner for the laptop. Maybe some of the tips in the link might help.
