New Graphics Card gives me Black Screen

I have read the other threads on getting a black screen and none of them seem to help me. I know that i installed the GPU correctly/routed it power since when i turn my PC on, the GPU's fan starts spinning for about 5 seconds and then stops. After this there is the regular dull hum of the CPU and nothing happens on my screen. I have connected the GPU to my monitor with a DVI-D. I tried un-enabling the integrated graphics on my hard drive and then installing the card, only to get the exact same result. I also know its not my power supply, as i installed a brand new 500W EVGA Supernova recently, and my computer works when the GPU is not in. Should I try installing my GPU's drivers and then installing the card? Any help guys?

try connecting the monitor cable to the motherboard directly and see if it boots up.

I would search on google, "clear cmos YOUR MOTHERBOARD" and follow the steps.

Cleared my CMOS, exact same results when i put the graphics card back in.

I would have left the graphics card in when doing it. When I had this issue, I simply left everything assembled and hit clear cmos button on my motherboard then everything came to life.

Post some specs.

I think what he meant was clear cmos (the little battery on the mobo, check tutorial) while the gpu is installed.

Need more to be more specific on the specs. You don't need to see anything on the screen to clear the cmos.
