I overclocked my video card about 2 weeks ago and I didn't get any problems yet, I saw a video about overclocking a GPU using EVGA Precision XOC and he said that more than +100 MHZ on each one ( GPU Clock and Mem Clock ) could be dangerous.
I wanna know the real truth here.
Can someone explain me how can I overclock my GPU without damaging it?
Now I'm using +150 on GPU Clock and +100 on MEM Clock.
I used to do +200 on GPU Clock and didn't have a problem.

Thanks.

BTW I don't know anything about overclocking, thats why I'm here, I just changed that on EVGA Precision and I gain more FPS on the Heaven Benchmark.

Hello... Typically from experience the highest(safest) you want to go is in the low 80's of the NVidia GPU... above that you can start experiencing hardware shut downs or screen artifacts... the GPU can show you on the screen when it is having heat problems... OR your FAN is running at full speed constantly during operation of the APP... GPU-Z will help you watch what is going on too in the sensor TAB app.

Typically I go to OC or tweakers sites and look at what other people are experiencing with success before doing a OC for my self... now remember humidy and room temperature can affect the cooling ability of AIR... so Typically I have a summer and winter set of OC's for my environment. B /
Hello... good questions... basically temperature of the semi-conductors and construction/ materials used will dictate your OC... you can super cool a semiconductor or material and get amazing results... BUT you have to 'adapt" your OC for the cooling environment you are using the device in.

Typically you want to OC your GPU first it is the most adjustable/increase you can make because you have a heat sink and fan directly attached to it... memory does not OC well because it is already being Quad pumped (GDDR5) in relation to the digital clock signal from the GPU. So Typically you don't want to make large or ANY changes to it.

With the overclock I'm on right now It doesn't go further than 70ºC while doing a benchmark, I'm not using any special cooling system or anything. My cooling enviroment is awful, I have to say it, I need to fix it as fas as possible, but still, I',m not getting more than that.
