Random applications making CPU spike to 60-99%

This just started a few days ago. I was getting some lag while playing CSGO, and I went to check my task manager and saw my CPU usage was at 99% which is unusual. When I play more demanding games my CPU usage is usually at around 10% while listening to music and in a discord call. Currently I only have chrome open and at first it was at 88% but it has now gone down to 3-8%. I did malware scans on 2 different applications (malwarebytes and hitmanPro) and it's still doing this. Thanks.

CPU: i7-6700k 4.00GHz

That is unusual, getting lag however is VERY Strange, usually more CPU usage to one application would deliver better performance.

Try closing down apps that you never use via task manager, and disable programs that launch at startup aswell in task manager.

Also, try updating your drivers. All of them.
