The ram i bought was not on the QVL (qualified venders list)and now my computer wont show display and the usbs ports dont work. is this a ram or mobo issue. This is my first pc build. and im kind of confused if it is my ram or mobo, because everything turns on so the mobo should be fine right?

Solution

Trouble with this is, yes, the ram may not be supported, so that could be the problem.

The other problem could be that your bios needs updating to support RyZen 5, all of these AM4 motherboards shipped with R7 support only, a month before R5 was released, If you have a look at the Gigabyte website for your board you'll see you need bios F4 on the board for the CPU to work, http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-rev-10#support-cpu If you aslo notice on that CPU support list, theres no R3...

Best thing you can do is contact the shop you brought it from and tell them it needs a bios update to work, they should offer this service for free for you.

After that you'll know if its a ram compatability problem.

I bought my part off of Amazon so would I be able to do the bios update myself or is it best to just go to a shop? Also quick question do I need my ram plugged in for my USB ports to work? Thank you for all your help!

Yes, on that board you will need compatible ram and a compatible CPU, if you can borrow an R7 off someone for 5 mins then you can do it yourself easily, otherwise, you'll have to take it to a shop to get it done, I dont think that board has a bios flashback featuire like ASUS and MSI as it comes with dual bios.
