2 different nVidia GPUs for 3 monitors

Hello,
my GTX 780 Ti just died and I've send it to RMA. Now I'm using my old GTX 275 and I can borrow from my friend a GT 520. I'm wondering if I can plug them both into my PC for 3 displays setup (780 supported 3 display per single GPU, but these older cards can handle just 2 displays each, if I'm correct). It should be just for desktop work, I do not care about gaming performance. That's the main problem...

And as well I would like to buy new card...a GTX 1080 (Ti) most likely but I will wait until they give me back money from RMA, so it's more then a month away from now. I used to watch every single pc component release few years ago but I've kinda lost track...so if I'm not mistaken, AMD should release VEGA this month and I've heard something about nVidia next-gen in summer? Could someone just give me some short info about this? Thank you very much.

Re: Monitor Setup
Yes, this will work. You can't use SLI, but since you're not gaming that's no issue.

Re: VEGA
Should be released before July 30 this year.

Re: Nvidia next gen
Looks like 2018. The new "Volt" technology will displace the current "Pascal". In the meantime there might or might not be a new Titan card, this is unknown..

Yeah you should be able to run a 520 and a 275 together just to run 3 screens for desktop work.

Yeah the 1080 Ti is the best card for gaming available at the moment (except the new Titan Xp but its not really worth the extra over the 1080ti). Not sure about Vega yet in terms of performance.

It's Volta btw, named after this guy :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessandro_Volta

Thank you guys, it does work as it should, only sound does not work now...
When there was only GTX 275 in there, it was okay, when I inserted GT 520, I'm not sure but I think it did work. After I installed all drivers and several times re-connected all cables (HDMI on both card did not work, I needed to use 2xVGA and DVI) now all 3 displays work, only sound stopped working...
When I play music, I can hear weird scrambles (when there is no audio output going on, it's mostly silent), like the jack is not connected properly but I'm sure, it is okay. Both back and front act the same. With other audio source (smart-phone), speakers works fine. I've got wireless USB headphones that works fine with PC...only audio jacks does not work... Any ideas please?

Try changing it in control panel to the desired output device. Check in BIOS if oboard sound (or realtek) is missing.

Looks good...
Can you try to disable the device in BIOS, save & exit. Reboot go to BIOS again and turn it on again. Save & exit. Maybe this will get it up and running again.

Graphics cards messing with audio drivers seems to be a common problem. So you might try to deinstall the realtek driver and download/install the newest version. This will take a while tho, so maybe someone has another idea beforehand?

I already tried to enable/disable it but did not help... :(

That is exactly what I'm trying to avoid...messing with all drivers etc....currently I'm (for 100x time) looking into all settings but without successes so far...

Thank you very much for your help anyway, I appreciate that! :)

Maybe you could try to uninstall the HDMI-Audio drivers which came with your GTX software?
If it doesn't work, you might decide to live with it untill you get/buy your replacement card. I wouldn't fiddle with the realtek driver either if I didn't absolutely need to.
