I'm building my first gaming PC but i want to know Would a GTX 1070 be enough for 1080p 144hz?

Processor is i5 7600k And 8GB DDR4 RAM

and the monitor i plan to buy is
BenQ XL2411Z

Easiest way to tell is go to youtube and watch reviews on the 1070. They usually include gaming benchmarks at different resolutions. From what I've seen, the 1070 will not give you 144 fps at 1080p in modern games with the settings turned up. However, by lowering the settings a bit, it should be possible.

1070 is getting 60fps in BF1 Ultra @ 4k, 100fps Ultra 2k, and 180fps 1080p Ultra.
Overwatch is getting a minimum FPS of 70 @ 4k Ultra, 135fps 2k Ultra, and 200fps 1080p Ultra.

Not sure where you're getting that the 1070 can't do 144 fps in modern games at 1080p?

Where are you getting your BF1 numbers from?

My budget is 1500$ Max.

If you really want 144hz, you can get this, but I can't stress how much I recommend the below 4k build over the first one. :(
Save up a little more and get that instead.
You can OC the 1500X quite well with the wraith cooler by the way.

BF1 Ultra graphics is very CPU intensive. It's not a GPU issue, but the CPU. Your link to reddit is of people with 3-4 generation old CPUs .

I just tried googling it again (http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/battlefield-1-pc-graphics-benchmark-review,7.html), and this site is claiming only 120fps 1080 and 90fps 2k, 55fps 4k. But I see they're using an Intel Core i7-5960X which has a lot of total power, but less IPC and clock than something more modern like and OC'd Kaby Lake.

Ok, how about these benchmarks with an i7-6700K @ 4.5GHz http://www.techspot.com/review/1267-battlefield-1-benchmarks/page2.html

I really appreciate your time thanks but what i was thinking 144hz is more for FPS pro gamers
what if i just stick with the regular 1080p 60hz it would really save my money what do you think?
