Neither will be particularly good due to much lower IPC and clock frequency than modern CPUs and high memory latency due to having to access memory over the FSB instead of integrated memory controller and PCIe interface. Modern CPUs are about twice as fast clock-for-clock, core-for-core.
The Xeon has more cache with a higher clock frequency, which should make it the better option of the two if you really want to go that way.
