I keep finding conflicting information on this so was just wondering for the XPS 420 motherboard can I use any of the intel core 2 CPUs? Most the posts here link to http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19268151/. Which says 65nm only then says 45nm at end with no confirmation. Thanks.

Can't say for sure, there appears to be more than one motherboard for the XPS 420. See the comment by The Paladin in the link. This might be the difference you are talking about.
