I just received this error message on PCPartPicker: Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

What does this mean and how do i fix it.
Here is my build:

Solution
Generally speaking, that's not really applicable anymore as it's been so long that most of the non-updated motherboards are out of the ecosystem.

That being said, I would absolutely not build with an FX CPU. I'd far, far prefer a Ryzen 5 1400 with a stock cooler than any FX with a low-end liquid (depending on type of workload, the 1400 is 10-30% faster). If it's a gaming-heavy rig, given the existence of the Kaby Lake Pentiums, I wouldn't even recommend an 8350 at half the price.

I advice you not to go with a 5 year old cpu. It's to slow to run games well today and has been prelaced by cheaper options. Also go air cooling as those low end liquid coolers are beaten by air coolers of the same price.

This is my first gaming build, so would you advise the Pentium of the Ryzen. I'd like to play some "heavier" games such as Battlefield 1 and the Beta for Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

The Ryzen in this case. You have the budget for it. At a lower price point, the Pentium makes sense.
