Why does my sound keep cutting out?

My sound keeps cutting out literally every half an hour and then coming back instantly. It cuts out for like a brief second. Then I get the notification that something was plugged into the audio port and that something was unplugged. The messages are literally one after the other and the thing is, I have my headphones plugged in the whole time. I don't plug or unplug anything. I've updated audio drivers to the latest and they just seem to not work. After a reinstall of the latest drivers my mic stopped working which I somehow fixed after like two hours. Also I play league of legends often and sometimes even twice in the same day it'll just freeze in game. I can alt tab but it won't alt tab out. It shows like the small menu of the other windows I have open but it stays in league where I have to ctrl alt del and sign out to stop the program. Usually when it freezes it begins with the sound cutout then it'll freeze a second after the sound cuts out. Anyone know the cause of this? I just built my desktop around 3 weeks ago and so far it's having problems I have never dealt with in my whole life.

Are your headphones your only source for sound? Do your speakers work ok?
Chances are it's a bad cable on the headset. The next thing to do would be to try another port, and try another headset.
In all likelhood, your game freezes are related to your headset 'disconnecting'.

I only use my earphones for sound. My monitor has built in speakers but I've never used them with my desktop. I use a blackwidow chroma mechanical keyboard which I plug my headphones through that. The keyboard is plugged into green and red on the back panel.

I haven't tried another pair of earphones (I only have earphones) but this problem never happened on my desktop. But it has happened recently where the sound on my earphones would be muffled and sound like whack also like if there's a song playing it would play background music but not the lyrics until I fiddle with it for 5 minutes. My roommate did chuck my earphones at the wall really hard for no reason so maybe my earphones aren't fully working. This muffle out sound happened on both my desktop and laptop. Both I've used the same keyboard but I think I did plug in my earphones straight into the laptop and still had that muffle problem.

Ya the idea is to use the process of elimination and try to rule out stuff. Bypass the keyboard and plug directly to the PC. Your headphone is USB?
Be nice to borrow a headset/earphones (or buy them if that's cheap enough) and rule out that possibility. Still most likely the headset cable, but could be the green (and red for mic) lead from the keyboard.
