We're trying to upgrade from the GTX 750 Ti to the GTX 1070. The video card lights up and gives video but now the computer doesn't boot. As far as we know this is the only issue.

Gives the message: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".

The HD we've been using is a Samsung 850 EVO.

To test it, we installed a spare HD (Samsung SSD 840) that originally booted by itself. Still no boot.

We plugged these two HD's by USB into a different PC to see if they were functional. The 850 EVO was not recognized but the SSD 840 was.

We didn't uninstall the old drivers for the 750 Ti before installing the new 1070, since most graphic card upgrades haven't had this issue.

Everything was working fine until the video card was installed. We checked all the cords to the HD and everything appears to be plugged in properly.

Thanks.

Solution
Try setting your motherboard to use PCI-e 3.0 manually. Some default to PCI-e 2.0 and some people have had issues with this and their GTX1070's.

You'll need to use the GTX750ti to do it if the PC won't POST with the GTX1070
