I have a cooler master 412 cpu cooler with push and pull setup. It seem to always be at 1200 rpm and 900 for the cpu opt (pull) regardless of cpu load and heat. I would like it to be dynamic. In bios cpu fan speed is set to auto but it won't change speed. After googling I suspect that I have a 3-pin connector to the mobo. Do I have to have a 4-pin for the auto function to work? In that case, is it possible to buy an adapter or do I have to change the whole fan?
The cpu is an i5 haswell and it runs about 33c idle and about 70c in full load. I would like it to be more quit when streaming movies.
