Hi everyone. I'm looking for help with my ASUS GTX660 DCU II graphics card. I wanted to make the fans shut down at idle when I don't use it. I'm sure I won't fry the card because I've run it with unplugged fans. I have tweaked the BIOS with nvflash, but although the speed is set to 0% fans still behave like they are 10 % (approx 1080 RPM). Can I disable fans through software or is it just impossible in this model?
I will appreciate any help.

Solution
the card does not have 0db feature. for this kind of card they always have the minimum threshold for the minimum fan speed and cannot be turned off completely. but why you want it to stop completely? i used to have asus GTX460 DCU (single fan) in the past. even when the fan speed ramping up to 50%-60% speed the fan still not audible.

Just wanted to extend the lifespan. Thanks anyway. In the furure I'll buy semi-passive card.

asus usually using good quality fan for their card. i've used my GTX460 with custom fan curved for almost 3 years and there is no sign the fan is dying. i can't say the same with my Leadtek GTX660. i have two in SLI setup in the past and the fan for both card start wearing out in less than 2 years.

even with MSI AB you can't override this minimum fan speed. with my leadtek 660 the minimum speed was 45%. i tried lowering them with MSI custom fan curve but the sensor still reporting the fan speed at 45%. but if i increase them (for the minimum speed) the fan speed will ramp up. means that the custom curve indeed work but it cannot go lower than the minimum speed that was set from the card's BIOS.

I have an rx470, and the fans are supposed to turn off when it isn't idle.
The result is that it stays around 50-55°C all the time, what SUCKS. I use MSI afterburner to let the fans always running, my GPU is single fan, and I realized that it gets noisy after 40%, but before that it's fine.

My temps dropped in about 10°C, and I set the power limit to -5 when i'm not playing, so it never goes over 40C at idle.

How did you set power limit to -5 i can lower it only to 47 %

Different GPUs have different options, on my GPU the power limit goes only to -5 to +5(and +5 makes the computer freeze while gaming, so I let it at 0 when playing)

I think that reducing the Temp limit should also downclock your GPU to lower the temps, but i'm not quite sure.

In my case power limit is from 47 % to 110%. For gaming I always set it to max and temps are pretty good
