Just bought the monitor and set it up using a Dvi-D cable that came with it.
I have no clue as to whether or not I'm getting 144hz out of it at the moment. I heard that the DVI-D cable is the one you need to use in order to get 144hz as the HDMI doesn't accomplish this for some or other reason. I also don't know where to get the drivers that may or may not be necessary for helping solve this problem, are they downloaded through Nvidia experience/ their website?

Solution
You can go to the Nvidea control panel and in the page where you can change the monitor resolution you can also see what is the refresh rate you're using.

I went to the control panel and changed it to 144hz refresh rate I believe this has fixed it thank you very much, one other thing do you know how I get the drivers for my monitor?

There is no need for drivers for your monitor, it's all done by the graphics card and the operating system. What you can get sometimes is the color profile but don't worry about that, it isn't important (or even noticeable) unless you are doing some design things etc.

Thanks again, one last thing. Any tips on correcting the saturation and overall colouring the monitor is producing, it seems a little off compared to my last monitor?

They don't seem to have suggestions for my model (XL2411) would the XL2410 suggestions be suitable?

Use one with the same last letter as your monitor. Yours ends in z?

Also, some settings here
https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3ikq7r/anyone_know_what_monitor_settings_to_use_with/

And icc profiles here: https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/benq-xl2420z/

Again, it ends in z so will be fine
