Hello. Overnight suddenly my Origin games do not have sound...
I am using an AMD card, and literally changed NOTHING to make this happen. Next day at start up this is how it was.

IN windows 10, if I go to speaker devices in the tray, the ONLY way I can get sound is to set the sound device to my Samsung gaming monitor... sound works in game fine using that, but I don't want to use my monitor! I want to use my nice speaker setup.

It seems as though Windows, or origin is being directed to use the monitor and not my speakers.

Any idea how to stop this? Thanks!

Yes. I have this problem too, especially after installing new AMD driver for GPU. Right click on your volume icon in the system tray. Click playback devices. In the resulting list, open up and set to 'disabled' all you don't want the sound to come through (particularly your monitor). Make sure the device you do want sound to play through is set to enabled and default.

I don't have windows in front of me but that is my recollection of the steps I take. Each time I install an updated GPU driver, I have to do the same thing b/c the driver automatically sets the sound to come through HDMI into my monitor for some reason (even though I use display port and not HDMI).

I actually I just tried that very thing. No effect. I also use display port not HDMI.

It is strange how it just happened over night. When I originally got the new GPU drivers it was fine. The next day I went to game and BAM, no sound.

Is it just in origin games? Say a youtube video still plays sound? I would try first reinstalling origin if so.

If its a total loss of all sound for all things, did you try another listening device such as headphones to confirm its not an issue with your speakers?

It is only origin games. Everything else is working good. I guess I could re install origin... but that is a LOT of hours of re downloading games! Is there any way to not lose all my games doing that?

Is it all origin games? I have assumed so until this point. If not, maybe check your sound settings in the game or reset to default settings?

I thought there was a way in origin to keep the installer files so you would not have to redownload but perhaps you have to enable that setting when downloading the game originally. I am not so sure that uninstalling origin means it deletes the game files. I would google the Origin FAQ to find out.

Sorry. When you get it working be sure to post what the solution was. I just google 'origin games no sound' and seems quite a few have the issue. There are a few solutions posed such as disabling origin in game. Some solutions seem to work for some but not for others. Good luck.

My origin screen name is the same as here and I play BF1 often. Maybe see you on there when you get it working.

That would be cool! I have not figured out my BF1 stuttering issues yet, but the game remains mostly playable. I am soon to upgrade to ryzen! Hopefully that will fix the stuttering coming off this FX 8350. My user name is also the same as in here.

I had to update to the motherboard supplied realtek drivers to get this issue to stop... strange that everything worked fine and one day BAM, does not work anymore. Thanks for the help guys!
