So I bought a new Samsung 850 pro 250 gb.
This is my first experience with a SSD, so don't know that much about this. I already have windows installed on my WD blue 1 TB. The point is that I want to boot my pc from the SSD. I already selected the boot priority to the SSD in the bios, I created a new volume for the SSD. The thing is; nothing happens...
Is there a way I can put just simply my OS on the SSD?
1. What size is the new SSD?
2. How much total space is consumed on your current drive?
3. What constitutes that space?
If and only if the current total used space is
smaller than the new SSD...easy.
These steps: (this moves the entirety of stuff on the HDD over to the SSD)
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install
Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up
It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.
If it works, and it should, all is good.
Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:

-----------------------------
If the current total used space is
larger than the new SSD...we'll have to do some investigating.
