Hi, I'm Matt.
I'm building my own rig but I can't find out what kind of case I should buy.
Here's my specs.
I have an i7-7700k z270 processor.
I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM fan for my processor.
I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FOUNDERS EDITION GAMING, 11GB GDDR5X, LED, DX12 OSD.
I have an ASUS PG279 monitor. (RoG)
I have an EVGA supernova 1000 g2 power source.
I have an old DVD optical drive from my old computer. I don't see the reason in buying a new one since it works fine.
I have a Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive.
I have an ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard.
The motherboard supports 64Gbs of RAM.
I bought one already but didn't realize that some cases don't have slots for an optical drive.
Now I don't know what cases are good or bad.
Money is not an object but I don't need any bells and whistles that do nothing.
Thanks a lot.
Matt.

The Mastercase Pro is a solid option, but a bit overpriced. If you want to do anything out of the ordinary with it, you'll want to have some cash saved up. [strike]Note that the Pro doesn't come with ODD bays. You need the Maker for that.[/strike] Sorry, I was mistaken. Cooler Master doesn't have the easiest website to navigate. The Pro DOES have two ODD bays.

The Enthoo Pro M doesn't have 5 1/4" drive bays.

The Corsair Air 540 is a solid option that's worth considering. I personally don't like the looks, but it really is easy to work with. It's...
One of the most practical cases out there that gives you all the things you need and very few of the things you don't would be the Fractal Design Define R5. It's my go-to case, and can easily accommodate 95% of the builds you could throw at it.

When shopping for a case for a new build, you need to find out what your plans are for your build and what's important to you. For example:

-Do you plan on overclocking? If so, you need a case with good airflow, specifically in the front intake fans.
-Are looks important?
-Do you plan on moving the PC around occasionally and/or traveling with it?

Thanks a lot for the quick answer.
It' looks nice but I can't tell if I could put an optical drive in it.
I need one that has a slot for a cd/dvd optical drive.
Thanks for you help.

Thanks for the quick response. I don't plan on overclocking. Looks don't really matter. I never move it around.
Thanks.

It has two 5 1/4" bays. You can put two optical drives in it.

It also has two 2.5" only bays, and 8 3.5"/2.5" bays. It will fit almost any combination of drives you would want to put in a single computer.

Sweet. Thanks a lot. I think I might buy this one. I am still going to see if their are any I like better though.
I appreciate the time you took to answer me.
Thanks.
Matt.

What about this one. I really like the look of this one, but I don't know if it's any good.
CM Storm Stryker - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 Ports and Carrying Handle (SGC-5000W-KWN1)

Another thing to think about is if your home is prone to dust buildup. If so, you really should ensure your case as dust filters. Not all of them do. The previously mentioned Cooler Master MasterCase Pro5 does and that would be on my very short list. And it is verified to fit your EVO 212 cooler. The Fractal Design Define R5 does as well and will also fit your cooler. Then there are convenience items to think about like front USB or audio jacks. Both cases have them.

It's been around for years, so yes, it's good. Here's a review of it from 2012:

Not sure where you're getting your details on the Pro M, it has a 5.25 drive bay. It is removable tho, so some mods will show it with it removed for water cooling.

The Air 540 is a fairly open case, so if the components are loud you'll hear em. My personal experience with the case has the fans being on the quiet side of things.

The Stryker is a good case, and has a plethora of ODD bays. The design is a bit dated now, and never really matched the Corsairs or Fractals even in it's day. It will work just fine, but the 200mm fan it comes with isn't great quality.

These days, there are much better full towers around, if that's what you want to get.

Cool. Thanks.

Honorable
I second the Phanteks Enthoo pro m. It is nice and wide for beefy air coolers, has great airflow, and plenty of room to work in. I actually just shifted my build over to one from a cooler master storm trooper which is the black version of the stryker. I liked it but it is dated and I wanted something smaller, lighter, and to be able to control my fans through the motherboard rather than using the built in fan controller.
