Hello everyone

I was building my computer yesterday and I realised that my psu ( coolermaster 500w elite v2) doesn't have the 8 pins connector required by the MSI rx570 gaming x.
I used the 6 pins connector and installed windows 10 but have not used it since.
Is it going to work properly or not? What should I do?

THANKS

That's a really crappy power supply and cooler master doesn't make very many good ones, I'd highly suggest buying a new PSU. Not having an 8-pin speaks to the quality.

I'd get something like this, or any quality PSU (EVGA, certain corsairs) for a similar price.

This is a good post to quickly get a rough idea of how PSUs compare in terms of quality.

"I used the 6 pins connector and installed windows 10 but have not used it since. "

You will likely only get an error code without the extra "sense" pin in the 8-pin connector hooked up.

A better PSU is *highly* recommended. Cooler Master Elite is bottom of the barrel. I would not trust it even if it had the proper connectors.

A decent 450W will do, I'm using Antec VP450P holds up very well even Oc'd heavily(RX 570 Nitro+), pretty solid PSU :bounce:
My suggestion will be to get a tier 3 PSU atleast for decent quality.
