trying to install 2x radeon r9 280. I have an adequate PSU, supply going to each card. in appropriate slots on mb according to manual for dual cards (position 1 and 3). crossfire attachment applied to the goldfingers between the cards. i had reinstalled graphics drivers for amd radeon r9 280 from AMD site. when I look at device manager, only 1 radeon r9 280 appears under display adapters.

is this correct? idk how to check to see if both cards are operating as crossfire.

I was reading with the new radeon software that crossfire is selected by default if possible but was having trouble finding a definite source. in any case, I cannot find an option to select or deselect crossfire in their software

thx

Solution
I know what it says but that is a recommendation for best bandwidth on the pci express slots.

You should get a display from ANY of the slots on the board mate.
It would seem that PCI express slot is borked.

Ya i tested one at a time, in the primary pci-e slot as solo cards, they both work fine. Also used both cables to make sure they aren't the culprit.

keep the 280x, sell the 280

your cpu is not good enough too keep up with CF, wasted time and cash

save the money for a new rebuild

Sorry for confusion. Both cards are actually radeon r9 280. They are just different manufacturers (one is HSI and one is Sapphire). Updated the specs in above post.

Still not having any luck with computer recognizing both cards as crossfire. AFAIK device manager only sees one. Radeon software only lists one also

Gpu-z will let you know if crossfire is enabled & also if more than 1 card is being picked up

See the ati crossfire box at the bottom??

Also the clickable box absolutely bottom left if selected should show 2 seperate cards that you can select to show details in the main tabs.

However it does sound that from device manager you only have one card showing.

Just tried it. No display. The vga led red light is on, I get error beeps (1 long, 3 short). The computer is in and running but no display.

The motherboard manual does say to only use the pci-e slot 1 with a single card though.
