im new to pc biulding and i wanted a better pc so i recently acquired a new graphics card the MSI r9 270x 2gb for my pc because i wasn't able to run fallout 4. after two weeks i got the card and found out i needed a new power supply (it only had one 6prong pcie chord) so i bought a new corsair cx 550w psu. and for some reason there wasnt any display, so i took it into memory express and they couldn't find a problem and they said it could be the motherboard or cpu (amd fx 8350 idk what the mobo is), i stuck my old gpu back in my computer and it works fine. since then ive been researching to biuld a new pc, i have a list of parts i want in the biuld. MOBO:gigabyte GA 970a D3P cpuCOOLER: coolermaster hyper 212 evo RAM:2x4gb 1600mhz. currently i already have the storage, gpu, cpu and psu, im still deciding on the case i just want something cheap. im wondering if i should purchase a differrent mobo or cpu if it will work better with my other parts. i still want to be able to run fallout 4 and other games with 60-50fps. i spent 800$ initially on the pc so i dont want my limit to go over 500$ im planning on transferring some of my old parts from my computer to the new biuld. if anybody would like to share some advice it would be much appreciated!

my current computer has
amd fx 8350
a potato for a graphics card, unknown
the new cx 550w battery i installed
2x 4gb ram
mother board is unknown
seagate barracuda 2tb
the case is an old hp case

CPUCOOLER:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan
MOBO:GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

2 builds i suggest for around $500 which have a massive performance increase compared with the FX 8350 AM3+ platform. spending money on your old system would not be worth it because within 12-18 months you'll be noticing the age of your system. in fact even now if you search the forum you'll find posts about the fx series of cpu's struggling to keep up in newer games. i recommend changing your gpu so you'll get far better performance with the new system so i have included this in the builds.

i just updated the post with a list. i purchased the gpu and the psu, when i took it to memory express they said i could either buy a new pc and transfer the psu/gpu, or biuld a new one and transfer some of the parts so thats what im trying to do. im looking to spend around 500$ or less on these new parts.

edit:

this build is based upon you wanting to use the R9 270x which you purchased . i'm confused as to whether you still own this or not .
you can remove the SSD if you wish and save some $$$. there is a longer period for delivery on the patriot ram btw.

ill probably go with the third build you suggested as i did want to base the build around my msi gpu, i still have the msi but im not using it in my pc until i get the new parts and build a new one entirely. i wont go with the amd fx (mine is pretty old already) ill go with the cpu you recommended but are there any that are better or just as good for cheaper? that would be good to know

the r5 1600 is the best value under the r7 series of ryzen series of cpus. the r7 1700 is considered the best overall value but it is more expensive! so that doesn't really help :p

like i said i purchased the MSI R9 270x (i still have it, its incompatible with my current mobo) i also purchased the PSU Corsair cx 550 (its in my pc right now it replaced an old poopy 460w psu) i havnt purchased any other parts but i want to use some of my older parts if compatible for the new build like the storage, i was going to use the amd fx 8350 as well but like the other gentlemen said it would be better to get a new cpu. the second list in my thread was a list i was thinking about but never finalized.
my computer as of this moment:
gpu:AMD radeon hd 7570 (found the name)
cpu:AMD FX 8350 8 core
Ram: 8 gb
mobo:unknown
storage:seagate barracuda 2tb
case: old hp case
PSU: corsair cx 550

The GPU i got from a bid on ebay i got it used for 62$ but the shpping was 40$. I really wanted to use it in my pc the gpu and psu installed correctly but i never got a display . when i took it into memory express the tech support guys told me that when they ran diagnostics and did their tests they found no problem with with the gpu BUT they told me it could be the motherboard. so when i assemble the new pc and it has no display then ill definitely purchase a new gpu.

i'm struggling to see why it wouldn't work as the motherboard has a pci-e slot . unless there is a bios update available.. which i currently cannot check as the motherboard is unknown :p if you can.. download this http://filehippo.com/download_speccy/download/9a32969ef8a443e5aac5b92ed3b7262f/

install it . then open speccy and it should list the details of your computer .. including motherboard make and model .

my motherboard is a gigabyte 2AC8. honestly even the people at memory express didnt know why it failed to display anything, i would press the power button there where no beeps. i tried many things like moving the ram to the other slots, switching the pcie cables, switching the sata cables. sometimes the pc would post though but still no display. so i put in my old graphics card and it works

looks just like it. i read this on another thread on this site sometimes the m3970am hp is incorrectly identified as the 2ac8. i used speccy and that's what it said until my computer restarted and some speccy kept crashing before i deleted speccy and ran antivirus (just in case). so i ran command prompt put in a code and found that it said the same thing as speccy but that link you sent looks exactly like my mother board.

speccyi is fine :p no virus hehe takes a while to display the information sometimes .

yeah i read the same thread! as i couldn't find anything about it .. i found links to bios updates that were no longer available. i am assuming when you took the pc to memory express that they tested the gpu to see if it worked in another computer . this motherboard though is a custom built motherboard especially for HP prebuilt pcs .. i don't think i will be able to find a bios update unfortunately. i would expect a x16 pcie slot to support almost any gpu as long as you have the right power connections . which you do. baffled.

edit: i made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas as to why it wouldn't work. will update if i get any answer.

im just reading through the receipt from memory express it has a long list of what the guys there did. they tested other video cards but still no display, they also put my video card in one of their systems and it posts fine. so what im thinking is that maybe the radeon 7570 and the motherboard where only made for each other, the 7570 literally looks like a potato with a dinky fan and no pcie slots. also if you could send a link to the thread you made that would be good.
