GTX 1080 Ti Saturation on PCIe 2.0 x16?

I'm planning to get a GTX 1080 Ti for a PCIe 2.0 x16 motherboard, will its performance be bottlenecked? How significant is it?

~5% loss at most under worse cases

having an older motherboard also means older cpu's

Yes the lane saturation will rarely be the issue. The rest of the system could cripple it badly. As above what are your specs?

People ran it on PCIe 3.0x8 and there was no loss in performance unless you SLI.
