I just built a new computer that should be screaming fast. Instead, I'm getting FPS in 30s, peaking up to 40s. I'm sure there's something I missed or a setting that I need to change to get the performance I'd expect. Here are my specs.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming K5 (rev. 1.0)
GPU: GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti DirectX 12 GV-N108TAORUS-11GD
CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700 8-Core 3.0 GHz
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3, 220-G3-0650-Y1, 80+ GOLD, 650W Fully Modular

Ghost Recon wildlands, at 1080p res, max settings gets 40 fps. Ark survival evolved, 1080p at epic settings gets 36fps.

I'm running everything at stock with no over clocking.
Updated the BIOS.
Nvidia drivers are the latest.

What have I missed?

If you're running W10, make sure you set Power Options to High Performance (Control Panel>Power Options).

GR Wildlands is incredibly demanding at max settings though due to high detail and very far draw distance and LOD. Lowering those settings will make it pretty much run like any other game.

^ This. ARK is just terribly optimised right now, hopefully one day soon they'll work on optimisation. The game itself recommends a Titan X just for Epic settings and that's just the preset, not everything on Epic with all tickboxes. I recommend you search online for some Performance/Quality guides that give you specific options choices that maximise performance with good looking settings.

I see your system and can spot only ONE bottleneck and that is your CPU. I am not partial to Intel but you should've gotten the 1700X or 1800X Ryzen. If you're stuck with this CPU then at least try overclocking it to 3.8Ghz or higher.
