Okay, so I have a 5 year old monitor, it has a VGA and DVI (LG W40 monitor). I have been using a VGA->VGA->DVI Converter->GTX 560ti for my old setup, but I tried the same thing with my 1060 I just got, but it doesn't work. Now, the last option I want is to have to buy a new monitor so I am wondering what my options are to fix this. Would a DVI->DVI cable fix it? Would a VGA->HDMI fix it? Or anything else you would suggest to fix this problem, thanks

If your monitor has DVI input, best move is use DVI cable.
The reason that current DVI to VGA adapter is not working is 1060 does not output analog signal required for such adapter - it takes active DVI-D to VGA adapter to solve that. But plain DVI cable is cheaper and better option here.
