Hopefully this is the right spot. I have comcasts performance 25 speed since as I am on disability it is all I can afford. I decided to buy my own modem/router to try and save 10 bucks a month, and after doing what I thought was some decent research, I went with the sb6580 wifi modem/router.
Now I am finding out that perhaps its a bit of a dinosaur, and that I made a poor choice. Since changing to it my PC has been MUCH slower. It is in a bit of a crappy spot, having a wall, cabinets, and a fridge between it and the modem/router, but its the only space I have available.
I guess I am reaching out to see what my options are. I have heard having a separate modem and router is the way to go, but that seems really expensive and I am on a pretty tight budget.
I mean at most I really only have about 150 to spend, so am I out of luck and need to go back to renting one?
