So recently my old PSU (Thermaltake TR2 700w bronze) burnt out, and i got a EVGA 500 B1, 80+ bronze 500w and after installing and turning it on the windows 8 boot screen comes up spins a bit then stops. After that it turns off and pops up the Automatic Repair screen so i press restart and it turns off comes on then repeats the cycle of turning off after the spinner stops spinning and the automatic repair pops up again in a endless cycle. I assume that maybe i installed it incorrectly because its my first time doing something like this but i doubt that since i followed the directions to the T. (maybe its that my Wattage isn't high enough after the sort of downgrade but im not sure)

What was the cause of the Thermaltake failure? The new PSU itself shouldn't cause the issue you describe. It really should just be a matter of correctly installing it with properly connected cables. Possible that data corruption occurred from the old PSU when it failed. Hopefully, it didn't damage other components in the process. The wattage shouldn't be a factor for your problem. Do you have a bootable Windows 8 disc or USB? If so, a Windows 8 refresh or reset may be needed.

Basically my computer didn't shut off all the way and left Overwatch running in the background for way too long and after that i started it up and after a little it started to smell like burnt plastic and after some digging i deduced that it was burnt out so i bought a new one. I can get a Windows 8 disc/USB but it would be difficult as the person who helped me build my computer is quite unreliable when it comes to helping me with my computer.
