Admittedly I have not put my hands on Optane tech either but its my understanding that the BIOS on the board handles the caching. So you first have to have a mobo that supports Optane, then add an Optane SSD to the m.2 connector, then configure Optane caching in the BIOS (or maybe it just auto-detects the Optane SSD and turns it on for you). But after that Colif is absolutely correct. You install to your HDD like you normally would. All the magical caching happens in the background.
