I just updated my EVGA Z68 SLI motherboard's BIOS to the latest version, R22, from A05. I did it from inside Windows 10 (yes, not a safe way to do it, I've since learned). The update seemed to take just fine at first, I can get into the new BIOS's configuration screen, but it won't boot into Windows from there. When I try to boot from either the SSD on which Windows was installed or the HDD I turned into a recovery disk, it immediately goes to a black screen with a blinking text cursor in the top left.
I believe I've now fiddled with all of the BIOS settings that seemed like they could be related, such as making sure the connected hard drives are identified correctly as either SSD or HDD, the boot order is correct, and a few other things. The motherboard is still seeing the hard drives through the SATA controller, and correctly listing their make, model, capacity etc., if that is meaningful.
Maybe I'm just missing the right combination of settings to get it to read the drives correctly?
