Windows won't load after putting older gaming system together

Putting together and older gaming set-up and managed to get it finished this afternoon. I fired it up and at first got error code 50 on the led display and one long and two short beeps which appears to deal with memory. I only had 1 4gb stick installed so went ahead and filled all 4 banks for a total of 16 gigs, at least on paper. Fired it up again and get to the ROG set-up screen. It tries to load windows, but fails. Ran system restore and windows repair, but eventually it states it cannot repair. If I restart and it asks if I want to run windows repair or start windows normally it goes to a quick blue screen for a split second and crashes. The same thing happened with the previous MB and HD until I simply did a reinstall of Windows 7, and then it ran fine even at about a week ago. I am wondering if simply an ongoing HD issue or perhaps something else. Also going to mention that in the Asus ROG set-up screen it shows 12+ gigs of mem installed. I realize that Windows in some cases can only use certain amounts, but I am running 64 bit version so wondering if one of the slots is bad? Here is the older set-up such as it is as it's all got right now:

Crosshair V formula Z
FX 6300
Corsair 650 PSU
CoolerMaster Hyper T4
16 gb ram

Actually the fx6300 was working fine in an MSI MB previously so I don't think it's that. The only real change is the Crosshair MB and ram. By the way forgot to mention the error code is now 62. I looked it up in the asus manual and does not give a lot of info. Again at this point it posts gets to ROG start-up screen verifies CPU, gpu, and ram (even though only 12 gigs recognized) but crashes when trying to start windows.

Okay, thanks. I did go the Asus website and download the cap file for most recent Bios. I am not sure why Asus does it that way as it seems a bit more complicated. I have never done it this way before but read that I need to use a renamer and download to a thumb drive or some such thing. Can you give me some help with this so I make sure I do it right? I am just a little concerned about updating the bios at this point, but maybe that's what needs to be done. Thanks again.

No problem You can use the Flashback, or the EZFlash in BIOS.
For Flashback, download the latest BIOS version, unzip and rename it from...CAP to C5FZ.CAP
Save the renamed file on a FAT 32 formatted USB drive.
Connect the drive to the designated Flashback USB port (check the board's manual for its correct location).
Don't start the board, just make sure that the PSU is connected to the board and on.
Press the ROG Connect button for 3 seconds.
Wait until the process completes.

Also I cleared the CMOS prior to anything else. I will go ahead and fumble through the bios update. My concern though is that the MB appears to be working fine and recognized as I can access set-up and all the features, etc., and CPU, gpu, and memory all recognized. The ram issue I figured out to be 1 bad stick after extensive testing. Only issue left is that windows tries to start and goes to repair, and repair cannot do it. I had the same problem with this hd on the previous MB and ended up having to reinstall 7 and then it was working fine, well up until now that is.

I won't have a chance to get to this until probably the weekend. I did download the cap to a thumbdrive prior to installing new MB but I click on properties and no option for unzipping. Not sure why that is.

Thanks again for your help/advice. I am going to try a different HD this weekend and see what happens. I still want to update the bios but will wait and see what happens with this issue first.

Well I went ahead and installed a different HD into the machine today hoping this might be the solution. Same problem. System boots to Asus screen, but as windows tries to load there is a split second blue screen and then the blk/white screen stating windows unable to load, run system repair or start windows normally. Running repair does not work. I am fairly new to a lot if this, but would eve messing with the bios address this issue at all, and or is this a HD issue all over again. I did download the latest bios, but it is not allowing me to unzip it. Thanks

Yes. Did test with just 1, and same problem. I am going to go ahead and reinstall window 7 again. I will probably go ahead and do a full install instead of just a repair. This is what happened the last time I used my existing HD with a different MB. Seems like that should not be happening.

I went ahead and reinstalled windows and it works fine now, except....... Installed an older game just to see what would happen and it seemed to install fine, but when I go to play it it crashes every time. App-crash error. This is the same HD and version of windows 7 (pro 64 bit) and the game worked fine. It is NSF most wanted 2005 of that matters. Think I may go back to consoles if this keeps up:mad:
