I am building my first PC and want to know if this build is good https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DtPgxY .

I might do some light overclocking in the future and the build will mainly be used for gaming.

I will also be getting a RGB LED Strip along with two fans for intake which will make it 4 in total.

Thank you

The i5 is still good but I just think its 4 threads will be limiting in the near future. If spending out on 144Hz monitor and 1070 Id feel the system is not up to its full potential but that's just me. I'm sure you will still enjoy it.

1080p and 144Hz. This processor is good for my needs,

Then id definitely look at an i7 or Ryzen setup. High Hz/fps the extra threads are starting to show material benefit. If you were looking at 60Hz (1440p) then the i5 is still excellent but I wouldn't but it today for 144Hz.

All of the people, here on the forum and friends, told me that the i5 is excellent especially for 1080p at 144hz so I don't really think there is a problem with it.

Resolution doesn't impact CPU, target fps does. It used to be the case that an i7 game little to no gain in fps but newer games this isn't true and seems to be the way things are going. I will find some benchmarks.

Toms graphs taken from here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-1700-cpu-review,5009.html

I picked on the graphs showing the i7 pulling ahead. Ryzen is gaining ground as game developers release updates to better utilise them.

Thanks.

The problem is, it's pretty expensive. And I am already exceeding my budget.

What parts should I change for a lower price in order to have an i7?

The SSD is more useful to me than an i7.
Also, in many reviews, the i5 is still better especially for when on a budget.
I guess I will stick with the i5 as I will probably not need the extra performance.

Although any CPU upgrade would be pretty far in the future, it still is possible. Definately the beauty of PC.
