Hi, so my (ram) is Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz (PC4-24000) C15 Memory Kit - Black, and my (mobo) ASUS ROG STRIX B250F GAMING LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI DVI M.2 ATX Motherboard with USB 3.1 and my (cpu) is the i5 7600k which i just found out only runs ram speed at max 2400 mhz speed. The problem is the ram will not even run at 2400mhz.I have the latest bios version (just flashed 0606).That is not the only problem.I can't overclock pass the cpu boost speed which is 4200 GHz.I went into bios and set it to sync all cores and set cores to 42 which works but trying 45 will not work, and have not tried 43,or 44 but 4500 GHz is not that high.So my question is am doing something wrong or is there a setting i need to hit or do some voltage or timing manually? I am going to go try 4400 and 4300 GHz right now. Thx for your time, Much help would be appreciated.

To OC you need to meet 3 criteria. First is a 'K' model cpu, such as i5-7600K, not i5-7600. Second you nerd a 'Z' model motherboard such as a Z270, not a B250. Third, you need an aftermarket cooler large enough to handle the increased heat of an overclock. You must have all 3. Failure to meet the criteria of just 1 means no overclock.

Read. What you'll find out is that according to your motherboard chipset, you have a B250F. That's a locked motherboard and will not support overclocking on any Intel cpu. So max turbo speed is the best you can obtain on all 4 cores. You'll also find that according to the motherboard chipset, your board is capable of only 2133 or 2400 support, 2133MHz cap with skylake, 2400MHz cap with kabylake cpus. Any ram that's actually faster will be reduced to those speeds. To get 2400MHz, since you have kabylake, you'll probably have to enable xmp1 which should automatically set voltage and timing for 2400,or if that's not a possible setting, you'll have to run a program like cpu-z and look up the jadec table for what timings are used for 2400 and manually set voltage and timings.

On Intel cpu's that'd be BCLK, which is limited to 103.5? Basically doesn't do much other than mess with ram speeds, best left at 100.0. Asrock had an open bios, msi had a few boards with open bios, allowing some skylake cpus to hit higher OC by using BCLK but Intel (through Windows updates) microcoded a squash on that, as it pulled sales of k models.
